Hey Bob May,

I'm by no stretch of the imagination a spiritual elitist, lol. I have yet to do meditation of any sort
but think its time I might try.
My mind was never activated by a power plant but I did have insomnia for almost 6 months straight
when I was a youth of 14.
Maybe this is how I was alerted to and opened up to the inner sounds of the night air when most people
are usually asleep and dreaming. I was being bothered to say the least by...

Ah, The white noise!!
It is very familiar to me and my friends. Many a time staying up into the wee hours speaking of Spiritual things it was our constant companion. Like bacon frying in the pan or leaves singing from the trees on a breezy day. It accompanies the Spirit. And like the Spirit, we are describing only a glimse again.

I followed that sound once in meditation and it grew to a roaring so loud that I thought it would tear my body apart and shatter...

Thanks for the link Dreamgirl. I will keep my eyes open for that author next time I get a chance to go to a bookstore.
You may be right that it has something to do with losing the Ego. I think the Ego tends to get "thinner" as a person get older if they exercise any amount of self reflection and observation of the human condition.

I have read similar accounts of this experience happing to a handful of people, this is a particular interest to me, the ones I remember are Dr. Ann Faraday and Meta Zetta, and Lee Lozowick, the two latter I know little about. These few people have had a spontaneous awakening during sleep, to awake without an ego. Sounds fortunate to me, and I suspect this is what is happening to you. You already strike me as someone who is awakened, and thus you are at the doorway...

Sometimes I wake up knowing some particular thing that I didn't know before.
These moments or minutes of mental/spiritual Clarity fade quickly, but not completely.
I am left with the residue of the thought or thoughts that shake my world as it was before those thoughts came to me.
That is a good thing.
It is as though these spiritual ideas cannot survive the light of the conscious mind. Or only in shadow form.
